When her father goes missing with a court case just around the corner, Ree Dolly goes on a search to find him. With the threat of loosing her family’s land and home if her father is not found, Ree ventures into dangerous social territory to find him.

Jennifer Lawrence give a stunning performance in this film. She certainly shines the brightest as strong willed Ree. When it came to performances no one else particularly stood out to me. The film wasn’t super riveting but I wasn’t bored. For the most part lines flowed well. There were a few lines that made me cringe but still fit well enough due to the nature and topic matter of the film.

If not for the title I think that perhaps it may have been more popular. I remember when it first came out and I saw it around so many people made fun of the title and wouldn’t see it just because of the title. It may have been only marginally more popular but still I would have seen it when it first came out if not for the title.
